Prof. Falk Schwendicke:

Abstract

This 5-hour industry masterclass equips clinicians with practical tools to integrate artificial intelligence into daily diagnostics without losing clinical Authority.

Comprehensive dentistry relies on proper diagnostics as the foundation for sound clinical decision-making. Only through structured, accurate diagnostics can clinicians identify risk, select appropriate treatment options, and deliver predictable, patient-centered care. This workshop positions AI-driven diagnostics as a decision-support tool within comprehensivedentistry, enhancing diagnostic precision while preserving clinical judgment. Hands-on sessions allow participants to actively apply AI-supported radiographic analysis and intraoral scan data to improve treatment planning and patient care.

Participants begin with a clear, structured understanding of how AI works, what it can do reliably, and where its limitations lie. From there, the workshop moves into real clinical application: intraoral scans as diagnostic sensor platforms, radiographic AI for bone and caries quantification, and cross-modal case interpretation combining scan, X-ray, and AI outputs.

Through live polling, case discussions, and hands-on data analysis,

participants learn how to:

• Interpret AI-supported radiographs responsibly

• Use 3D scan data for longitudinal wear and risk monitoring

• Translate risk probabilities into treatment thresholds

• Avoid automation bias

• Document AI-supported decisions safely

• Communicate quantified risk clearly to demanding patients

A dedicated strategic block addresses competitive positioning in high-performance markets, showing how diagnostic intelligence strengthens patient trust, supports premium positioning, and differentiates practices beyond simple technology ownership.

The workshop concludes with integrated cases where participants align radiographic AI, scanner data, risk modelling, and orthodontic planning into structured decision architecture.
